Scholarships

There are a variety of ways to find scholarships and other financial aid for college bound students. Researching these opportunities is a task for students and we do our best to assist with that process. On this page you will find information regarding scholarship applications we have available, community scholarships we are aware of, how to find scholarships at specific colleges as well as helpful online resources. If you have specific questions regarding any of this information please do not hesitate to call or email the Counseling Office.

Community-Based

Below are links to scholarships that are currently available in hard copy in the Counseling Office, but a link to the application is provided as well. This list will grow as the year goes on. Check the website and the binder regularly for scholarship updates.

  • Air & Waste Management Association Scholarship
    Who: High school graduates entering college in the fall of 2024. Applicants must be enrolled in an environmental-related degree track. 

  • NYSIR Bambino/Goncalves/Jensen Scholarships
    Who: The Bambino Scholarship is available to a special education student who is college bound. The Goncalves Scholarship is available to a student who demonstrates an involvement and work for a cause or organization that promotes social justice, equal opportunity, relief of human suffering or other aspiration generally understood to be within the meaning of humanitarian activity throughout their high school career. Diversity is encouraged. The Jensen Scholarship is available to a student who has excelled in design in his or her high school career. 

  • CPCU Member in Good Standing Scholarship
    Who: Relatives of a member in good standing of the Syracuse CPCU Society planning to attend college in the fall of 2024 as a full time student. 

  • CPCU College and University Students Scholarship
    Who: Open to all students who are enrolled as a full-time student for the fall of 2024 term in a Risk Management and Insurance Program in Central New York. 

  • CPCU High School Seniors Scholarship
    Who: Open to all senior high school students planning to attend college in the fall of 2024 as a full-time student.

  • Ann Whitman Christopher Scholarship
    Who: High School students with a Christian background, community involvement and an intent to major in music and/or engineering in college.

Other Opportunities

  • New York State DAR Scholarship
    Who: High school seniors planning to study at a college or university within New York State.

  • DAR – Damaris Smith DeSimone Scholarship
    Who: High school seniors planning to major in United States History at college.

  • DAR – Helen and Arnold Barben Scholarship
    Who: Female high school seniors planning to attend college.

  • DAR – Peggy Jo Power Gifford Scholarship
    Who: High school seniors intending to major in US History, or Philanthropy at college.

  • New York Rural Water Association Founder’s Scholarship
    Who: Students who exhibit leadership in community/school activities and strong academic performance. Priority may be given to students planning to major in water-related studies.

  • Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs Award
    Who: Women, aged 16-19, living in a Zonta district/region, or who are citizens of a Zonta country, who demonstrate evidence of the following:

    • Active commitment to volunteerism
    • Experience in local government, student government, or workplace leadership
    • Volunteer leadership achievements
    • Knowledge of Zonta International and its programs
    • Support for Zonta International’s mission of empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy

College Scholarships

Colleges often have their own set of scholarships available to students. You can find out more information about what is available by going to the college websites and reviewing the material under the financial aid tabs.

For those of you planning to attend CCC, these scholarships are available that we try to remind students about are the Presidential Scholarship and the Fred L. Emerson Scholarship. Follow the process described above to find out more information.
