Despite all the uncertainty facing athletics during the fall season, the Weedsport field hockey team finished its season with a winning record. The team went 5-4-2 even though it faced a difficult schedule that included schools three to four times larger.
The team’s schedule included Liverpool, Cicero-North Syracuse, and Cazenovia.
Senior Suzie Nemec led the team in scoring with six goals, followed by senior Emma Stark with three goals and an assist. Goalie Mariah Quigley made 81 saves on the year.
Athletic director Zac Young said he was proud of the team because it faced obstacles stemming from the pandemic.
“I don’t think anyone expected us to play almost a full schedule, and I am thankful that they were able to participate in athletics this fall,” he said.
