Steve Sheinkin, the author who plans to visit Weedsport on May 5, won the Margaret A. Edwards Award for lifetime achievement in writing for young adults.
Some of his books include “Bomb: The Race to Build—and Steal—the World’s Most Dangerous Weapon,” “The Port Chicago 50: Disaster, Mutiny, and the Fight for Civil Rights,” and The Notorious Benedict Arnold: A True Story of Adventure, Heroism, & Treachery.”
“He is the biggest name right now who is writing non-fiction for teens,” said librarian Brynn Speer.
“He’s written for such a wide range of ages and on American history topics, and his writing is connected to some of the curriculum here.”
Sheinkin’s books will be available at the middle and high school book fair on Tuesday, Feb. 11. between periods 5-10, and also during the Winter Art and Music Gala from 6-8 p.m. The fair is being brought by The River’s End Bookstore in Oswego.
