The substantial completion of the new turf/track facility at the Weedsport Jr.-Sr. High School brings about an opportunity for our students, student-athletes, and community members to use the facility. While we aim to afford ample opportunities to all to use the facility, there are parameters for community access as student and student-athlete use will have exclusive priority at times.

Thus, for the purpose of ensuring student/student-athlete safety and well-being please know that there is no access to the turf/track facility by the general public during regular school hours or when our interscholastic teams are either playing or practicing. This is consistent with our past practice of accessibility relative to the facility as it has always been closed to the public during regular school hours and while our school sponsored teams use the playing field and/or track. This notification is merely a reminder to the community as we will continue to extend the long-established process moving forward with the new turf/track facility.

It is fully understood that there is great interest and excitement in using the turf/track facility; however, school officials must take the necessary steps of notifying the community that access does not come at the expense of putting our students at risk. We are asking for our community’s understanding and cooperation as we partner in putting student safety first.
