Congratulations to the below student-athletes for being recognized as Weedsport’s April athletes of the month! Take a look at what their coaches had to say about their hard work.
Baseball – Antonio Tortorello
Antonio leads the baseball team in almost all major hitting categories following the first eight games of the season. He also has been phenomenal behind the plate, throwing out six stealing runners. Beyond that, Antonio is a developing leader, and a great student.
Softball – Morgan Flask
In the month of April, Morgan is batting 0.538 and has recorded two doubles and two over-the-fence home runs so far this year. She most recently batted 1000 vs OCS-LaFayette, going 3-3, with 2 RBIs. Her experience and leadership at the plate has kept the spark alive for our young team. Morgan has recorded 9 RBIs so far this season, but as our rookies continue to progress at the plate, I foresee this number continuing to rise at a rapid pace!
Golf – Jay Lowery
Jay was the co-medalist in a big win over MPH to start the season and has the lowest scoring average on the team for the three matches so far. He has a strong work ethic and desire to constantly improve.
Boys Track & Field – Troy Brown
Troy has broken the school record in high jump. He also wins most other events he is in. He is a senior and offers advice and help to underclassmen on the team.
Girls Track & Field – Olivia Snodgrass
Olivia has been on fire throughout the month of April! At the Port Byron invitational, she took first place overall in the girls 800m, 1500m, and 3200m relay. Olivia’s times continue to improve each week, and she is already qualifying in two events for sectionals. Not only is she a talented runner, but also the ultimate teammate – supporting and encouraging everyone donning the green uniform. Olivia’s work ethic is unmatched and her accomplishments on the track this month are a true representation of her dedication to the team and sport.
