Boys Cross Country – Sam Lowery
Sam Lowery has come alive the second half of the season. Over the course of the year, he was able to drop his 5K time by nearly four minutes and secured a first place finish for the boys team at Lafayette in the process. Sam not only puts in the work, but does the extras. At practice, he’s typically the first to finish the workouts and volunteers to run more hills while he waits for the group to finish. He is a talented runner that has a great future ahead of him in the sport.
Girls Cross Country – Zoyee Newton
Zoyee Newton has been a solid contributor for the girls team throughout the year. A naturally gifted athlete, Zoyee showed great improvement, dropping her 5K times by two and half minutes since the beginning of the season. She continues to push herself at practice and in meets and her times are a direct reflection of her efforts. Zoyee has limitless potential in the sport and I believe her best races are yet to come.
Field Hockey – Gabriella Jeffers
As voted by her teammates, the October student-athlete of the month for the Weedsport varsity field hockey team is sophomore Gabby Jeffers. This is Gabby’s second year on varsity and she did an outstanding job improving her skills and helping the team every day. Gabby’s work ethic, hustle, and quiet leadership inspired her teammates. Gabby was a key part of our attack line and she demonstrated, through her determination, what a motivated, outstanding team player should be.
Football – Robert Quigley
Over the course of the three games in October, Robert led the defense with 27 tackles, 19 of them solo. He also had an interception this month. In addition to his defensive play, Robert did a great job blocking on offense. Robert sets a positive example of effort and attitude for his teammates with his practice habits.
