Seventh and eighth graders were treated to a special, hands-on science lesson with a guest speaker. Dr. Robert K. Druger, MD, an eye physician and surgeon, facilitated a two hour session for all students in both grade levels. Their learning involved:
- Anatomy and function of the eye
- Diseases of the eye
- Solutions to proper eyecare and treatment
- Dissection of cow eyes
- Discussion on daily stresses on eye function
- Education required to be an ophthalmologist
Amy Pitcher was Dr. Druger’s assistant to the laboratory procedure. Dr. Druger has a practice located in Camillus, called Druger Eye Care.
