All Weedsport third graders recently visited the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES MakerSpace; an environment that allows students to create and explore through hands-on learning.

Students first learned about the metamorphosis cycle of a butterfly. Then, they developed their own models to show each of the four stages of metamorphosis. Students additionally wrote a summary report and presented that report in front of a green screen.

“All students and teachers had a wonderful time, where the planning, filming, working, and fun were nonstop,” said third grade teacher Lynn Cheche Baker.

Once everything was created and filmed, students connected their video reports to a QR code, and attached those codes to their models. Once scanned, the video plays on your mobile device.
