The New York State Public High School Athletic Association recently recognized three sports teams from the Weedsport Central School District as scholar-athlete teams for the winter sports season.

The teams include boys’ basketball, girls’ volleyball, and swimming & diving.

To receive scholar-athlete team recognition, the team’s average GPA for 75 percent of the roster must be greater than or equal to 90. Players whose GPA is 90 or higher also receive scholar athlete pins.

“We’re very proud of the work all of these students have put in both in the classroom and on the field,” said athletic director Zac Young.

“This recognition is an example of their dedication.”
