January 2025 Weedsport Student-Athletes of the Month

Varsity Swimming: Jeremiah Lasher

Jerry is a distance swimmer for the swim team, competing in the 200 and 500 Freestyle. Practice and building that base to be able to compete in the longer events is very important; Jerry understands this. Practice attendance is perfect, and his dedication to improvement is unmatched. Jerry understands that the sport of swimming is a commitment to hard work, the sport is built on a strong and tireless work ethic, which he possesses. He was also chosen as a captain by his peers and led the team this year in a very positive way.
Varsity Indoor Track & Field: Adelyn Gross

Adelyn always arrives to practice on time and shows up ready to work. She qualified for sectionals and is a great asset to the team. Adelyn is a pleasure to coach and a great teammate to all.
Varsity Indoor Track & Field: Jacob Varga

Jacob is always willing to help athletes with their events by giving pointers or advice. He is willing to put in the extra work as needed and qualified for sectionals this season.
Varsity Girls’ Basketball: Kayla Flask

Kayla helped lead the team to a 7-1 record for the month of January. Kayla’s positive attitude, leadership, determination, and commitment on the court set a great example for her teammates and younger players. Kayla is planning to study physical therapy and play basketball at Daemen University in the fall.
Varsity Boys’ Basketball: Dakota Holmes

Varsity Girls’ Bowling: Fiona Colvin

Fiona is becoming a good bowler. She has been steadily improving throughout the year, in which she started by averaging in the low to mid 70s and finished closer to 100. In the last month of the season, she averaged over that at 101. She constantly works hard to improve and has made great strides this year.
Varsity Boys’ Bowling: Nathan Burtless

Nathan has bowled well throughout most of the year but stepped up in January raising his average from a 156-163. In the month of January, he averaged a 171. He is consistently in the top 3 and is always working hard to improve.
