Cell Phone Policy 2025-2026

Beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, all New York State schools will be required to implement the new Distraction-Free Schools policy.

Over the past several months, the Weedsport Central School District has been carefully reviewing state guidance documents and analyzing input from our community survey to ensure our local approach reflects both state requirements and the needs of our students and families.

Our top priority throughout this process has been to develop a thoughtful, supportive transition plan. We are committed to helping students adjust in a way that promotes their well-being, reinforces a safe school environment, and reduces distractions to maximize learning.

As part of this work, we are exploring ways to create collaborative spaces that encourage peer interaction, support academic focus, and reduce reliance on personal devices during the school day. Additional resources and support will be available to help students and families navigate the changes ahead.

We appreciate the ongoing partnership of our families and staff, and we will be sharing more detailed information soon regarding our transition plan, student expectations, and available support. Together, we will continue working to ensure that every student has the opportunity to learn in a safe, focused, and engaging environment.
